After Sun Oil & Bath with Essential Oils

::::sigh:::: I am digging this amazing weather we are having in Minnesota right now. My friends...you do not understand how much Minnesotan's worship these days. We literally had cold, snowy weather from November to April this year. That's 6 months of winter. We experienced our first "Polar Vortex" this January. That means it was as cold as the North Pole here for several days. That's -35 degrees FARENHEIT! Not to mention the wind chills of -60 or lower (wind chill is what it ACTUALLY felt like outside. Brrrr! Yeah. Gross!).

As you can see, when we have sun and 80 degree weather, we take advantage. So it's important to keep our skin moisturized and healthy and to prolong our tans as long as possible when we actually do see the sun and heat. That's why I'm writing this post today. It's all about After Sun Oil and Bath. Awwww, doesn't that sound lovely? So here are two recipes to use after a long lovely day of sunbathing!

After Sun Oil

Here is what you will need:

  • Pour the measuring cup containing the magnesium flakes/epsom salt and essential oils under hot running bath water.
  • Climb in and soak for 30-40 minutes (just like a Detox Bath).
  • Drink ice cold water and relax!

Enjoy the sun!

How to Use Rose Water

Spark Naturals recently introduced their newest E-Spa item; ROSE WATER! Before Spark Naturals came into my life, I had no idea what Rose Water was or how to use it. But, I have become an expert recently! Rose water is amazing for skin, hair, in food...etc. THERE'S NO END TO IT'S AWESOMENESS!

Spark Naturals Rose Water is an herbal distillate, which is an important co-product produced in the process of making Spark Naturals Rose essential oil. The amazing thing about that is that Spark Naturals Rose Water carries many of the beneficial properties of Spark Naturals Rose essential oil (although in a much lower concentration and MUCH less expensive).

Rose water has been used by generations in food, skin care, and hair care products. It is well-known for it many benefits, which include (but are not limited to):
  • improving skin tone and elasticity
  • moisturizing (great for dry skin, but appropriate for all skin types)
  • it is effective, but not a heavy moisturizer
  • helping to prevent and possibly even alleviate sun damage (research is ongoing regarding substantiation these claims)
  • it's anti-inflammatory properties (excellent for soothing sensitive skin...HELLO SUN BURN RELIEF!)
  • a rich source of antioxidants
Rose water, straight from the bottle, is a fantastic moisturizer, linen spray, facial toner and make-up remover. Rose water is often used in cooking applications, as well. These include many middle eastern and southeast Asian drinks and foods. Imagine all the possibilities in combination with other beneficial essential oils!

In the days ahead, I plan on having a few blog posts dedicated to the loveliness of Rose Water! Be sure to check back in tomorrow for an AMAZING Rose Water Toner for Blemish-Prone Skin!

All Natural Head Lice Treatment and Prevention

Head lice can be a very nasty, scary thing for a kiddos, not to mention the cleaning and worry that parents feel when trying to treat their little ones and their homes.

I came across a fabulous recipe to treat head lice naturally with essential oils. It worries me to think of the chemicals we are applying to children's scalps...which, after all is 'skin'....and is considered the largest organ of the body. Do we really want to be applying pesticide to skin? Hmmm.

Let's try a different approach. I'm posting a recipe for an all-natural head lice remedy below to help you our if you or your child is struggling with head lice. Hope you are able to find relief!!

There are several essential oils that are well known for their "anti-lice" properties. But I like a combination of three applied to several different parts of the body to get the most effective results.  Keep in mind: if you are trying to prevent others in your home from getting head lice, you can do this same procedure to them! This head lice recipe is not only good for getting rid of lice, it can help prevent it! BONUS!

Here we go!
